Cougars can be found throughout Utah, usually in the foothill and canyon areas, but also sometimes down in the valleys — especially during the winter months when they follow deer searching for food to lower elevations. Cougars prefer pinyon-juniper and pine-oak brush areas.

Most of our cougar hunting is from November thru May. Each year we achieve nearly 100% success. We have some areas and reservations where we are able to hunt lion year round. We conduct Springtime, dry ground hunts as well as winter snow hunts.

How long does it take to kill a mountain lion?
Hunts can take as long as half a day to ten days and is definitely not a hunt for the faint of heart. The pursuit is a far greater thrill than the actual kill, but to harvest a Mountain Lion is certainly worth every minute and every effort expended. You do not need blaze orange, binos, or range finders. Camouflage isn’t necessary, but is fine.
