How long is navy training NZ?
18 weeks
New Navy recruits do 18 weeks basic training at HMNZS Philomel in Devonport, Auckland. After basic training, recruits do Basic Branch Training (BBT) to learn the basics of a specific Navy trade.

How do I train for the Navy?
The Navy Physical Readiness Test consists of push-ups, curl-ups (sit-ups), and either running or swimming. In basic training, swimming is not an option. All boot camp recruits are measured by performing push-ups, curl-ups (sit-ups) and running 1 1/2 miles. Event consists of running 1.5 miles as quickly as possible.
Can you wear glasses in the NZ army?

How often do you have to pass a fitness test in the NZ Defence Force?
During your initial training, physical training sessions will be a regular occurence, building your physical ability and equipping you with the skills required to pass the required fitness tests. As you continue on with your career in the NZ Defence Force, you will continue to be required to pass this fitness test once or twice a year.
